4 weeks post op with horrific nausea.... HELP!!!
So I am almost at the 4 week mark and have been doing pretty well, but around week 2 I started noticing being nauseous on a fairly regular basis plus I seemed to develop an insanely intense bionic sense of smell.... obviously not a fun combo. But with the nausea never completely going away for any amount of time or my sensitive sense of smell picking up on some horrible aroma of the hour that either triggers the nausea or intensifies it to almost unbearable. Also, I have noticed that I am very squeamish, and easily nauseated, in regards to things that have never ever bothered me in the slightest. It's just so strange and annoying... I am so frustrated and do not know what to do... anyone had a similar experience? any ideas on what is causing this? I still have my ovaries but am wondering if this is hormone related perhaps.... ANY advice or thoughts would be hugely appreciated at this point....
Also, I have phenergen to take for the nausea, but it makes me feel absolutely AWFUL the next day so I do not want to take it. I have been taking TUMS, sipping ginger ale, eating peppermints, and my newest idea was to try Sea Bands which I think might have helped a little, maybe.... I am running out of anti nausea ideas at this point and hate feeling this way!
Thank you so very much in advance for any help, advice, etc...

See if your doctor will prescribe you Zofran for your nausea - it does not cause as much drowsiness. Good luck! Nausea is one of my least favorite things.

Do you have Gravol? Here in Canada it is OTC with no prescription required. I like the children's chewable cherry flavour. It is not too strong either. For the bionic nose, try vaporub (minty smelling gel) on your chest in bed. I have a sharp sense of smell (common with endo and fibro, apparently) and people look at me oddly when I talk about bad smells they can't detect. Hugs and good luck!

Re: 4 weeks post op with horrific nausea.... HELP!!!
I'm having this same issue! Ill be 4 weeka post on Monday and I'm so nauseous ! No fever, no vomiting (knocking on wood)... just super nauseous. I'm wondering if its related to my hormones (was having night sweats and hot flashes, not having them anymore... maybe the "temporary shut down of my ovaries" is over??) or if I'm just coming down with something. Either way, I feel horrible!!

My doc prescribed the scopolamine patch you put behind your ear. It controls nausea for 3 days and the you change it. Been working really well for me. My doc told me that If you are sensitive to motion sickness that this operation will make you feel nausea for quite sometime.

I too have been nauseated almost every day but when I read your note I thought of migraines immediately. I have already had two since surgery and my sense of smell is one of my first symptoms even before the pain. I am not in anyway a doctor. I am just putting it out there!

Re: 4 weeks post op with horrific nausea.... HELP!!!
I am also at almost 4 weeks. I had no idea that others would have this super human sense of smell. I thought I had just developed it over time and that it had nothing to do with the surgery. I've also been having an upset stomach, headaches, the feeling of vertigo, night sweats and horrible hot flashes. I also kept my ovaries, so maybe they are taking their sweet time getting back on track. I thought my recovery would be so much easier than it's been, but I have confidence that this will all pass. Take care girls!

Re: 4 weeks post op with horrific nausea.... HELP!!!
My Dr prescribed me Zofram which was a miracle drug! Makes me a little sleepy, but sleepy is way better than nauseous! I really believe it has to be hormone related simply because the only time I have ever had anything similar was during pregnancy (i.e. super bionic nose + nausea). I just had my 6 week follow up and I'm back to work on Wednesday! Yay! ;-) The nausea has definitely lessened and the Med was a Godsend since phenergan made me feel AWFUL... Best of luck ladies! :-D
