Had TAH, stitches were butterfly 1`s, but have found a proper 1

Hello, I had a TAH, four weeks ago. They didnt stitch me up on the outside, i had the paper stitches, which i had to take off myself, but last night, what i thought was a bit of dried skin, is actually a bit of a stitch, i can only think, that this is one that should be inside, has anyone esle had any thing like this happen?
I`m going to the doc`s on tuesday, but i dont want keep bothering them if its nothing to worry about.

Hi,

I had a TAH 5 weeks ago. I have already gone for my 4 week check and the dr released me. However, just last night I noticed exactly the same thing that you described. I too thought it was either a scab or dry skin, but discovered that it appears to be a stitch. All my stitches were internal so I'm sure it must be an internal stitch that has come through.

Not sure what I'm going to do about it. My DH looked at it and feel it may be a stitch also. I think I'm going to give it a week and if it doesn't go away, visit my dr. No pain - just know it is there!

Good luck on your visit. Please post what the dr says the place is.

When I went for my 2 week exam, the dr looked over my incision and said, "Oh it looks like a stitch is coming through", and he clipped it. He said that sometimes they work their way to the top and it is nothing to worry about.
(I also had the paper stitches on the top)

Oh, the internal stitch poking out problems. My body rejects internal stitches, so I've been through this several times. THANKFULLY, we found this out before my abdominal surgeries started. It will feel like a toothbrush bristle, and once it's far enough out, you can either clip it, or as I do, go to the doctor and have it pulled. Of course, before you do this you should ask your doctor, but this has been my experience. Now they use a special very expensive (UGH!) thread made from animal products on me so that I don't have to go through this. HTH a bit.
