1 yr post-op and still problems

Hello Ladies,

I was 1 yr post op on January 12 and am still having problems. I had a hysterectomy because of heavy bleeding for one straight year no stopping. I was told after my surgery i would be pain free. Well guess what they were wrong.
My insicion keeps opening, It is red and raw all the time and the pain in my abdomen is crazy.
I have 5 yr old twins and had to opt out of alot of swimming and going to the beach in the summaer and even family swims now because of my insicion.
I called the DR and was told by the receptionist that there was not much he could do.

Anyone else having problems. I need so help as I have been *****y for about 2 months now and can snap at the littlest thing.
I feel so bad for my girls when this happens and my DH also.

HELP

You need to see a wound specialist. I am not sure if they have wound care centers in Canada but you need to check into it. And don't settle for talking to the receptionist. Go in and see the dr.

Hi there

I am 7 month's post op. I had adenomyosis. 2 days after my operation, my surgeon told me he found Endometriosis, which he burnt off. But in the last month, my incision was also opening. I went to my GP he said it was a internal stitch that was coming out. which I found strange because those internal stitches are dissolving & my surgery was in 6/06. I asked how that could be when the operation was 6 months ago. He couldnt give me a straight answer. I am also experiencing the same pain that I had before my operation, I feel like im in labor again. I also tried to contact the Surgeon, his nurse told me because the operation was 6 month's ago. The problem' s I was having with my incison would have nothing to do with the operation. I was like, hello, what ewould it be from then. but your incision should be checked, try your doctor. mine told me to put a bandaid over it, which i thought was strange, but it actually worked. it closed & it looks ok now, except for the pain.

i agree that you must go and see and talk about this with the doctor, explaining just like you have done on here .In no way should you be guided by the doctor's receptionist!

Well I finally went to see the Dr. My surgeon didn't want to see me because he said it has nothing to do with him.
I went to see my family Dr yesterday. He checked my incision and my stomach and said that there is definatley somethng wrong as I should not have pain and be that tender afte a year.
He thinks my bowle may have attached itself to either my stomach or scar tissue from my incision.I also have Diverticular Disease and am on medicaton 3 times a day for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.he thinks maybe something happened to my bowel during surgery.
I go for a Barium Enema next month and then we will see when surgery will be again.
As for my incison opening he thinks it could be because of a stich that is still in there and hasn't dissolved so i will have to have that removed at the time of surgery.

When I had my hysterectomy I thought all my troubles would be gone. I have more trouble now then i did then.
Thansk for all your prayers. I will keep everyone updated.
