What's the point?? Starting to panic...

I've been reading all kinds of posts referring to endo coming back post-hysterectomy...So I'm starting to panic with 9 days to go to my LAVH/BSO. What's the point if my endo just comes back? Feeling a little discouraged.

Re: What's the point?? Starting to panic...

I would not panic. Not everyone has the endo come back. If you have questions, talk to your doctor and ask him/her about the endo. I had a DVH with BSO due to endo and my doctor also removed a lot of the scar tissue and endo at the same time. I know they can't guarantee it won't come back but they can probably ease some of your fears. I also was very nervous prior to the surgery because I had read that this won't necessarily stop the endo but I asked a lot of questions about it until I felt comfortable. I know I am only nine weeks post op but have no signs of endo returning and considering how bad I was before the surgery, I consider these weeks as an encouraging sign. Best of luck.

luvmycop1992,

From what I have read, it isn't so much that the endo comes back, it is more so that it was missed and never really gone to begin with.

I have/had stage IV endo. I had an lavh/bso. For me, I was at the end of my rope. I was 31 and in almost constant pain. I had exhausted my other options and was ready to try ANYTHING to be pain free.

Every day I know that pain could come back. So far, I am a little over a year post op and I try to enjoy each day for what it is, another day without pain.

If you haven't sought out an endo specialist, I would highly suggest you do so.

The best advice I can give you is to make sure you have tried EVERYTHING. Exhaust all of your alternatives.
