Kinked cervix

Hi all, after two attempts at hysteroscopy and d&c (the first one ended in a perforated uterus) the doctors have told me that I cannot have any trans-vaginal surgery. My uterus is extreme anteverted and my cervix is facing the opposite direction effectively creating a kink large enough that their instruments cannot access my uterus. My only option, I have been told, is to have a hysterectomy.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am usually ok with a bit of googling to find the information I need, but this one has me stumped. Does anyone have any experience with this type of complication? Thanks.

Have you had a second opinion about your specific situation? Is the hysterectomy being suggested solely because of the kinked uterus or to treat the symptoms for which you were having the hysteroscopy and D&C? Are there other treatment options for the symptoms you are dealing with?

I hope you and your medical team can find the best solution for you, whatever it may be!

Hi Weiser, thanks for your reply. Since then I have had two more doctors look at me and come to the conclusion that there is no access up that way. They did say that they are not sure it is a kink as such, it might be a blockage, possibly scar tissue?. Although I've had children, I have never had any kind of surgery on my cervix, so they haven't been able to pinpoint why it is blocked.

A hysterectomy was always on the cards if the mirena, d &c, ablation etc. options failed, but the d & c was important because they need some pathology to test for cancer. I have already tried other treatments like hormones and such to control the bleeding (which haven't really worked), but to test for cancer they need tissue.

I also discussed the option of a lap hysterectomy but they said it's out because they don't know what they will find. To be honest I am looking forward to the end of all this trouble. It will be nice to have my life back again.

I am going to ask them what the blockage was after surgery so hopefully I will have something interesting to report.
