Heart Rate

Barbara,

Thanks!!! My father has a history of irregular heart rate - sometimes too fast, sometimess too slow. Having this happen now makes me think of my father. If this doesn't resolve soon then I will definitely contact a cardiologist!

Good luck with the chemo! When will they start?

increased heart rate

Hi Cynthia,

Hopefully, I can start the chemo tomorrow. I am going to call the doctor later on.

The heart rate is an interesting thing. I never thought of it being connected to the hyserterectomy. Thanks for putting the two together! Its nice to know that other women are feeling the same thing.

Good Luck!

increased heart rate

Hi Ladies,

My heart rate and blood pressure also increased post hyst. My doctor told me that it was due to the trauma to the body --- caused by the surgery and also the change in hormone structure. Increased blood pressure is apparantly a pretty classic symptom of menopause --- which, if you've lost your ovaries, you are not experiencing.........Good luck.

Heart Rate

Sue, Thanks for the information! I don't think that my BP is high - though I am actually full throttle in a surgically induced menopause. However, it was low when I went a couple of weeks ago. That said, I will certainly be sure to get it checked as soon as possible.

I have worn by HR monitor for 24 hours and found out that it really isn't THAT accelerated. It just FEELS like it is. It feels like my heart is going to thump right out of my chest, even though the rate might be only 65. Not sure what to think, but will give it some time.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience! It helps a ton.

heart rate

Cynthia,

At about 2 weeks post hyst, my heart started to feel as though it was going to jump out of my chest. It went that way 24/7 until my doctor finally started me on a low dose of effexor. The anxiety/heart racing was horrible. It was affecting my ability to sleep, eat, and basically function. I lost 20 pounds in just over 2 weeks, and I'm a small girl to begin with. I looked terrible! Anyway, the effexor helped. My surgery was Jan 14th and my gyn thinks I should stay on the effexor until my body adjusts to the new hormone structure ---- which can take up to one year! Until this, I've never taken any medication in my life --- not even vitamins. But, this stuff is allowing me to sleep, work, etc. and feel 'almost normal.'

Good luck to you,

Sue
