Re: hyst pending I'd love to hear othere's experiences in similar situations.

Hello Alabama Yankee! Here's a bit about me - I'm 46yo and had a dVh/BSO for multiple fibroids, cysts and polyps. I bleed 15-25 days per month and had quite a lot of pain plus anemia. I also had horrible hormonal issues, bleck!! I also have plate and bone graft in my neck from a ruptured disc and suffer from chronic, painful nerve damage still. These two things severely limit my activity levels and I've put on about 50 lbs since my neck surgery. Okay, now I'm 6 months out and take 1mg Estradiol a day. I feel beyond fantastic. I have energy I haven't known since childhood. I've lost almost 40lbs too! My crazy uterus weighed 11.6 pounds and was sized at a six month pregnancy. I walk all the time now and my appetite craves healthy foods and I eat much less. I still have the neck pain issue but it's so much easier to deal with now after the hyster. The hyster is the best health decision I've ever made. I chose to have my cervix and ovaries out because I felt that my female system would fail if I took parts away, so I wanted it all out, plus I did not want to risk PMS symptoms and mini periods by leaving my ovaries and cervix. Most importantly, I wanted to erase the possibility of future surgeries do to complications or cancer. I hope some of this is helpful to you. Good luck and smooth recovery

@Sharona19,

Thanks so much for posting. Sounds like we have similarish issues At least issue categories. I need to remember to ask about weight of what is taken out when the time comes. it will be good to caompare that to everything else.

5 months ago I had a 5 lb 11 oz baby and lost 2 lbs......I was a bit flummoxed!
But my guess now months later is that the whacked hormones are providing way to much endometrial material.

I know many are against it all at my age (not quite thirty) But if my Dr will agree too it I realy want to go the whole 9. My dr did agree that it would be easier to get the right balance of hormones with the ovaries removed....she just wants to be absolutely sure I want to because it is a big deal.

I know there is a lot of controversy... but I think this is gonna be the right thing for my circumstances. Hope I am right.

In my researching, I watched that HERS video someone commented on in another thread. I have to say it actually made me laugh. It is obviously a radical fringe. All the absolute statement of preposterous claims. I have to imagine that the "study" preformed was on a group of women specifically selected because of their rare side effects. By no means an average of the norm. One of their claims was that if you have a hysterectomy, your uterus wont be there to hold everything in place and so your ribcage will eventually come to rest on your pelvis. Seems like you would need a very bent back or part of your spine removed for that.

Re: hyst pending I'd love to hear othere's experiences in similar situations.

I'm not really sure why there is such a controversy over ovary removal and HRT. For me personally, being able to tweak the dosing is so great and estrogen is estrogen and we need it. And, the whole prolapse thing....there is much more than a cervix holding everything in place. Of course, there are always exceptions, but they are rare. The key is being educated in your decisions. I consider myself young at 46 and do not regret my decisions in any way.

you know you live in the age of Facebook when you are looking for "like" buttons on a post.

HysterSister administration, you should make something like that only fit it into your branding in some way... like "Hear Ye. Hear Ye." or "verily, verily." or "I heartily concur with the statements set forth in the article at hand."
