I am 5 weeks, think I can vaccum?

I can only tell you what happened to me each of us are different. I did vaccum after a month and some light bending and lifting and I bleed afterwards. Just alittle my bodies way of telling me to take it easy. I am 5 months out and I still am afraid to vaccum my husband does it. And even after 5 months when I bend or lift alot my belly swells.

I am 5 weeks, think I can vaccum?

My doc told me today (18 days post op) that I was cleared for everything except sex. He said I was a textbook case for healing properly and swiftly but that I should ease back into normal activities. So I did laundry tonight and ironing. No problems to report. DH is doing floors at this moment. If I don't have any setbacks, I plan to cut back the english ivy on Sunday. So slowly... Best wishes to you all!

I am 5 weeks, think I can vaccum?

I was cleared for several activities, (except the fun activities, ie: SEX) after 2 weeks. Of course after years of housework & cleaning up after 4 slobs, there was no way I was going to tell my dh & kids I could vaccum. I told them Dr said 6 weeks!!!! Not only did I not want to compromise my healing in any way, but it was great for dh/kids to see just how much fun I have cleaning!!! I am back to normal routine now, but noticed the house stays a little cleaner these days.

I would highly suggest asking your doctor for an okay first, pushing a vacuum cleaner is much more strenuous than we think. My doctor said to wait for six week check up, so I will listen to him as I don't want to take any chances and set myself back. Good luck.

Okay, kind of naive question here, but do you have a cannister or an upright? A cannister demands far less carrying and pushing in most instances, while an upright can be brutal - especially on steps. (I have a brilliant little Miele, and vacuuming creates very little strain. But my old Hoover upright would have had me back in surgery, I bet!)

I'm not even going to read the other replies first. The thought that popped in my head as soon as I read your post was "if you're asking if it is okay yet, then it is probably still too soon". I am keeping that task on my "no" list for a while. Too many ways to pull something and I want to know I am completely healed before I go there. Just mho.

NO!!! honey give your body a little more time to heal. you have the rest of your life to run the vacuum. you dont want a setback. my doc said the biggest mistake a woman can make after a hyst is thinking she feels good enough and overdoing it. please wait to your talk to ur talk
