Frequent urination

I am coming up on 6 weeks post op. I had TLH with dvci and kept ovaries..I'm doing really well, no pain, bleeding has stopped.. My only concern is the frequent urination which was part of my motivation for getting this done in the first place (my uterus was very large due to a fibroid....it almost seems worse than before the hysterectomy..I will see the doc this week and will ask about it but I wondered if anyone else has had this issue..does to go away? Could there still be swelling causing this?

Re: Frequent urination

I have frequent urination although it is not caused by the surgery. I can offer some things that I've learned to help with my bladder frequency. If you are drinking fruit juice replace it with water especially if you've been drinking cranberry or apple juice. Reduce or eliminate citrus from your diet. Reduce caffeine and carbonation. Reduce the herbs and spices your food contains especially peppers and garlic. Reduce or eliminate tomato and pepper consumption as well. These are all bladder irritants among many others. Your bladder could just be sensitive from the surgery. You could give these a try until you can talk to your doctor. If it's diet related you'll feel relief very quickly. Oh, also make sure you are walking enough during the day. Walking strengthens the bladder muscles believe it or not. Also allergy avoidance is important. Allergies to food, dust, animals etc can affect your bladder too. Obviously I'm not a doc, but I've done a lot of research and seen more than one doc over this. Hopefully something there could be helpful for you. Good luck! Bladder frequency is definitely no fun.
