I'm Released!

This is an FYI. I went to see the GYN today for my four week follow up. I'm released to go back to work (at my request) AND to go to the YMCA to do whatever I feel like I can! She also said sex would be okay at 6 weeks...but I think I'm going to wait until 8...inserting the speculum was a little tender today . She even said water aerobics would be fine!

This is NOT to say this would be okay for someone else. What I AM saying, is that it never hurts to ask the doctor!

Woo hoo!

I'm Released!

Anne,

Congratulations! Sounds like you healed really quickly. I am at 8 weeks on Thursday. I had a TAH/BSO and then had a post op infection and small bowel obstruction, so my Dr. told me none of my restrictions were lifted until week 8. My DH and I had a go at sex last night (3 days early). We were both anxious and scared, so it wasn't that good. I had Astroglide for lubrication, but I have to say I still felt a lot of burning and discomfort (no pain). I was so relieved there was no bleeding afterwards. I am not on any HRT due to BC risk, so I am going to try Replens to see if that helps with the dryness/burning(along with lubrication). My DH was great about it, but he was so scared of hurting me. I am hoping that the next time we try, things will go a little better, since we will be less scared. Does anyone have advice on the burning? I was tested for a yeast infection and I don't have one. I am afraid it will be like this forever. I have an appointment with my oncologist in Dec and I will ask him if an estrogen cream or VagiFem is o.k. to use. My Gyn doesn't want to give me anything with estrogen due to the BC risk. I am hoping my Oncologist will say it is o.k. I am not even sure I should wait until December, but I thought I would give the Replens a shot first. Anyone have success with that? Thanks for any advice.

I'm Released!

Sisters,

When my doctor said we could resume sex......we were scared to death. She did say though.....no rough stuff and if it hurts then wait another week. We waited until 10 weeks (I didn't get released until then). Just remember take it easy the first few times. And I don't know about the replens.....I bought astroglide and ky just in case and we didn't need it. But after rubbing both in my fingers...personally I thought the astroglide got sticky. No so with the ky......and I just bought the plain kind...not the warming or any of the other new formulas.
