Surgery Cancelled

I am having a horrible day!!!!!!!!! This morning a lady from the hospital called and asked how I was planning to pay for this surgery. I was like excuse me, but I came in there a month ago and filled out a mile of paper work to get help with this surgery. I don't have insurance. A few days later I was told that I was approved. But this lady says that I am not!!! They have cancelled my surgery. Unfortunately I don't make much money, $848.00 a month. There is no way I can pay for the $11377.00 down payment to the hospital. The Dr's office says "You know that you have to have this surgery". Yeah, I know I have to have this surgery. What can I do? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Was your mile of paperwork from the public aid office? Maybe contact them if it was not. In Illinois you can get a medicaid card to help w/ medical expenses. I would assume it's the same there. You may also check w/ your local health dept. and see if they would have any suggestions.

Prayers are w/ you,

Oh! so sorry .
My suggestion to you is to talk with your drs ofc. Im sure you aren't the first one to have this happen to. Maybe they can work something out.

And puleez...why do you think a band-aid costs 5.00 at the hospital? To compensate hospital expenses for people who can't or underpay.
What if your surgery was an emergency?/ what would they do then~ they cannot turn you away for being unable to pay!!

Be a squeaky wheel...there's got to be an option for you!

Good Luck!!!!!

I would check with the dr's office...they have probably encountered this many times before. You may have to use a different hospital but there ought to be a way to make it happen.

Hi

I read your post and would like to say - there is a way:

Medicare will pay if your need all of there requirements:
First step let your doctor give you a form requesting an emergency surgery (which you need) then go to the Medicare Office or a Medicare Representative at the Health Clinic.
And take it from there. By the way which state are you in?

All the best
