LSH How long did you wear your abd binder?

Just curious. I'm on post-op day 4 and took mine off for the first time today (well, except for when I take showers, lol). I love it dearly but I just needed a break from wearing it, KWIM?

It's been about an hour since I took it off and I'm feeling way more bloated than before. Think I might put it back on soon.

I had daVinci, but I wore mine almost non-stop for the first 2 weeks. I did have to take it off around day 3-4 because I had so much gas, it was more comfortable with it off. I did something similar to you, wore it most of the time, but would take it off for an hour here or there, just to take a break from it. I haven't worn mine in over a week now and I was 3 weeks post op Friday.

I am still wearing my binder while at home, but some sort of compression garment when I am going out. When I had another surgery I was told to wear a compression garment for six weeks to keep the swelling to a minimal, and it has helped this time as well. I plan to continue to wear it because I have not had the swelling in the afternoon that many have after being up and active all day.

Hi There, I bought one on day 8 and have been wearing it ever since. I am on day 30 today. I went back to work 2 weeks ago. I wear another compression undergarment that comes up to just under my breast line but I will put my band on when I get home if I fee like it. If while walking around my apartment, I feel my skin pulling and I have an urge to hold my stomach, I'll put it on. If not, I'll go without.

Thanks for the feedback! I forgot to ask how long I "could" wear it before I left. They put it on me in surgery so I woke up with it on. I do have other compression garments to use, but as long as I'm still at home and it's working, I'm gonna keep wearing it!

I took my binder off in the hospital when I got dressed to come home. I thought I'd may want to wear it at home, but I felt more comfortable and "free" with it off.

I'm still trying to figure out why they didn't put one on me after surgery or mention it at all. I wore it to my Dr's visit and forgot to mention it to him. I find it kinda funny how I don't have a 6 week appt with him either. After our visit he said, "see you next year for your pap smear"...and that was it.

Sharon the nurses didn't know what I was doing when I put mine on in my room at the hospital. The one asked me "what that for?" My other friends didn't use one either. Different strokes I guess. All I know is that it helped me not strain getting up out of bed or a chair and I have lost inches since. I'll keep it.

I'm telling you that would have definitely helped me right after surgery. Getting in and out of bed was the worst for me. All I could feel were my incisions and stitches underneath. Feels like I'm pulling stuff even now.
