Rapid heart rate day 3 post hysterectomy

Hi ladies. Hope everyone else is resting and doing well recovering. I am day 3 post op and my heart is still beating a little faster than normal. They knew this at the hospital but they were not too concerned about it. Has anyone else experienced this too? Should I be concerned?

Lots of hugs ((❤))

Re: Rapid heart rate day 3 post op

I was in the hospital for 9 days with my hysterectomy - two days before while they tried to get my temperature down (it was more an emergency deal because of my football-sized fibroid) and my heart-beat was pretty fast too, for about five days after surgery, then all of a sudden it dropped to an acceptable level, like my body all of a sudden said, "okay, we're good. Back to normal. Then my temperature came down (FINALLY, after two weeks of having a temp over 100) which was more their concern than my heart-rate.
If your doctors aren't worried about it, it's probably not a problem. However, it is your body, and you do have the right to question.

Re: Rapid heart rate day 3 post op

Hi,

My heart rate is normally below 50 bpm and a few days after surgery it was upwards of 100 bpm. It stayed that way for a couple of weeks, however, I also had a UTI. It's back down to normal now 3 weeks post-op. The doctor said it could have been due to the infection, or the fact that my haemoglobin levels were down a bit. I would check in with your doctor if you're worried just to be safe.

Good luck!
