Post Op Appt

I had my post op appt yesterday, it's been three weeks today since I had my TAH and I feel pretty good!!! The doc did an internal and told me everything is healed...She released me for anything I felt up for doing... including the hanky panky . I was very surprised because I am still very tired by the end of the day, and I still have a kind of crampy feeling if I'm on my feet too long. I am glad that the inside stitches have healed . The only thing she is checking for is anemia and a UTI [i will find out today about those tests]. Does three week post op sound too early for sex??? the internal did not hurt at all!!! She said to try when I felt ready and maybe I should be on top the first time.TMI??? Sorry about that!!! She also said I could take a plane trip next week to visit my parents, I guess taking care of myself the 3 weeks after surgery is paying off!!! I hope everyone has a great day today and I think I will go make those plane reservations!!!!!

Glad to hear your appointment went so well! That is awesome! I am trying to be patient to heal but I feel pretty darn good as well!

Can't answer "the question" for you since I'm a week behind you - I'm sure someone will be able to help with that.

So, you get released and are leaving to see your parents? (LOL) just kidding!

Make sure you don't do too much - keep resting!

I was feeling good after 3 weeks, but there's no way I could have started doing anything "normal"!

It seems strange when so many others are not released until 6 weeks - the internal stitches take a lot longer to heal than the external ones.

I would take it VERY easy if I were you. I'm considered to have healed very well, but I still wasn't "released" until 6 weeks.

My doctor released me for ALL activities at my 4 week check, and doesn't need to see me for 3 months, to check how I'm doing with HRT. I waited to resume intimacy with DH at the 6 week mark just to be safe, and I didn't try to do anything strenuous, like lifting over 10 lbs till 8 week mark. I went through so much with this surgery, it just wasn't worth hurting myself over. Please take care of yourself and allow as much time as YOU need to get well.
