5 months out and new onset of pain with questions
Hi All,
I had a TAH in January with multiple complications. I had finally started feeling better in May and was able to do everything that I did before the surgery. On Thursday I was packing some boxes because we are moving. By Thursday evening my lower abdomen was hurting a little. On Friday I did some more packing before going to work for the night shift. By Saturday morning after working a 12 hr shift my abdomen was extremely tender and sore along the incision. I came home an took a pain pill that I had left from the surgery.
I spoke with my DR and she said that I could have pulled some internal stitches. SHe said they take 6-9 months to dissolve.
I'm now experiencing lower pelvic pressure that is more noticible with urinating and sitting.
My questions are:
1.) What are the signs of prolapse?
2.) If anyone has pulled internal stitches before how long does the pain last?
Thanks for any input.
Nancy

5 months out and new onset of pain with questions
Hi Naw,
I'm sorry that you're having problems. I remember months before our surgeries, someone else, who at 5 months post, tore her internal rectus sheath while at work. After being examined, she was sent home for bed rest for a week. She said it was really painful.
Of course you need to see your doctor. But, prolapse signs are pressure and bulging that can be seen sometimes vaginally. I haven't pulled any internal stitches that I know of, but I'd imagine that it might smart for a day or two. Remember early in recovery if we did too much how we would spot for the day and ache a bit?
I'm 6 months post and not able to sleep tonight because the left side of my incision is burning. I worked in the yard alot today.
Maybe it really does take a year to be normal again.
Call your doctor tomorrow. Good luck with this Nancy......maybe it's not as bad as you think.

Nancy, I can't make my own link work. Run over to page 3 and look for a thread called : "what is a prolapse" by Penula. Lynn, hostess, gives some good links that work!
Best of luck,

Thanks Maralyn for the replies. I had seen the post about the prolapse and so far I don't think that I have it. I did speak with my DR at work Sunday morning at the hospital. She said that I may have pulled some internal stitiches and that I may be sore for a few days.
I have been sore ever since. I have had alot of lower pelvic pressure that I didn't have before. I'm also having pressure with urinating and the BM's haven't been the same since. (Sorry if this is TMI). I guess I will call my DR in the AM.
I can't believe I did something so stupid!!! I was finally starting to feel better. Plus I still have the pressure of moving to deal with on top of hurting.
Thanks for listening.
