Just read some good news about daVinci hysterectomy

Feeling more optimistic today about da vinci surgery and adhesions - sounds like it will still work even if you are severe - i have read posts where bladder was stuck to uterus and still had good outcome.

I am scheduled in less than two weeks. I am so glad i found that post because it really helped me with my worries. I have been thinking the worst and know i need to get my mine in a more positive note to get thru the surgery. Hang in there girls - sometimes things work out for the best.

This surgery can be really stressful. And it is hard not to worry about this. After all, this is MAJOR SURGERY with lots of unknowns.

Take a deep breath and in there. Know that we are here for you.

Re: Just read some good news about daVinci hysterectomy

I am also having the DaVinci (aug 25) and I am very nervous.
I had an ablation and my tubes tied 3 years ago and this year I have been having horrible pain that they have said is maybe endometriosis. we have ruled out GI issues and bladder issues, and when they went in for a biopsy, my cervix was scarred shut, so they think there is old blood that is trapped and causing pain. I don't work, so luckily I can sit under a heating pad all day. I am ready for this to be over.
I am nervous that I am going to go through all this, and they will find nothing wrong!
I am also worried that because I have had 4 prior abdominal surgeries ( gall bladder removal, hernia repair, ablation with tubal and tummy tuck) that my inside will be a mass of adhesions and I will end up with an abdominal hysterectomy or some other complications.
I guess I should not borrow trouble, but I am really nervous about this!
I am glad to know that someone with adhesions had a successful outcome with the DaVinci.

Re: Just read some good news about daVinci hysterectomy

Hi!!! I had my Davinci total hysterectomy for Adeno (ovaries intact) on 7-18-14 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!!! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post op and I have no problems to report!!! I am driving again, walking and moving around with ease!!! No swimming, bathing, heavy lifting, sweeping, mopping or sex but outside of those things its all good! I have two children that I had via C-Section and experienced more pain with their births than the hysterectomy. I have two half inch incisions on the left and rigth sides on my abdomen and one in the middle on/in my belly button. No stitches or staples involved.

Good luck to you all!!

Joy I have no doubt in my mind that your surgery will go well. At this point I feel kind of guilty being home now because I feel fine but regardless of how I feel I did have major surgery exactly 3 weeks ago today. I agres with you about doctors because of course a male GYN doc has no clue whats its like to even have a period and some female GYN's may or may not have even had a hysterectomy or issues with their period so any advice they may give is from their patients experience or from their studies. I am with you Joy I really value most post from this group!

Ohhhh I'm so glad to have found this info. I am having daVinci on tues aug 12. I am so worried about scar tissue issues. Is nice to read something positive this close to my date. I'm such an emotional wreck. At least this will ease my mind a lil. Thanks again.

Re: Just read some good news about daVinci hysterectomy

I had horrible scar tissue from surgeries in the 70s. I warned my doctor but he did not believe me. It took him an hour to cut the left ovary/tube loose, 45 minutes to do the right, the rest of the time was spent on the uterus and my sigmoid was attached to my uterus. (I got a copy of the OR report is how I found it all out).

From what I read, for heavier women and those with scar tissue, the DiVinci is the better method when possible.
