LSH for Endo 3 weeks post hysterectomy LOTS of pain

I had a LSH to treat endometriosis. I kept my ovaries. I had a previous laproscopic procedure to clean up the endo six years ago and it came back with more pain this time around. My tubes were tied so we decided to just remove the uterus and not have to revisit removing the endo again in few more years.
The problem is that I didn't realize when he said this entailed a small incision that I would have a 5 1/2 inch incision on my left side. I was discharged the same day and readmitted a few days later for acute post op pain. He wanted to keep me for observation and a ct scan. Discharged the next day and told to rest. So I've been resting. At the two week mark I got more range of motion. (Yay I can put my own underware on again with out help!) However, the pain won't go away. It's a solid throbbing that builds up all day. It's worse if I sit with my feet on the floor. It really hurts when my bladder is full. My Dr keeps telling me to just rest, it takes time. He said he doesn't know why I'm still in pain. Next week he is referring me to a physical therapist if I'm still in pain. This was supposed to be "The easier kind" of hysterectomy with a two week recovery. I've been walking as suggested. I'm following all of my post op directions. I just feel like I'm not getting better. I don't know what to do. I'm so depressed. I just sit at home and cry all day until I take a sleeping pill at bedtime, and start it all over again the next day. Is this really all normal?

Re: LSH for Endo 3 weeks post hysterectomy LOTS of pain

Wow, this doesn't sound right to me!! I would suggest getting a second opinion!! I too am having more pain after 8 weeks from LAVH with both ovaries removed than what my Dr. thinks I should have but in your case I don't think you should have that much pain! The CT didn't show anything? Are you taking any pain pills? Your pain may also be making you heal slower?

Re: LSH for Endo 3 weeks post hysterectomy LOTS of pain

The CT came back clear, just lots of swelling. I've been talking to other women who said LSH does not include an incision as large as I have and that may be why it's taking so long. I have an appointment with a new Dr on Monday.
