4 days post hysterectomy: Is this fever normal?

I started getting a fever last night...I was 4 days post op. I still have the fever tonight. Last I checked it's about 100.7.
Is it normal to have a fever? I am a bit nauseous but otherwise I have no other symptoms. I'm stressing out! I'm taking Tylenol extra strength and it's about time for my next dose but should I be concerned? I don't want to go to the ER for no reason.

Re: Is this fever normal?

After any procedure, your body can raise the body temp. But if it gors higher, that can be a sign of infection. When are you taking your temperature? If the temp is over 100 &/ or its 100 + while you still have tylenol in your system, then Id put a call into your Dr to ease your mind. It takes 45-50 minutes for Tylenol to taje affect. Look for any signs of infection. Stay well hydrated.

Re: Is this fever normal?

Hello,
You are,so early in your recovery and you don't need the added stress worrying about this...I would call your physician on call and ask them what they think. Good luck in your recovery!!

Re: 4 days post hysterectomy: Is this fever normal?

Hi
I had my TAH Wed 7-13 and have had an on and off low grade fever until today. My doctor told me it was my body fighting back from the trauma it went through ... I wouldn't panic unless it goes above 101.5 feel free to friend me since we had the same surgery the same day xo

Re: 4 days post hysterectomy: Is this fever normal?

Thanks everyone! I tried to get a lot of sleep last night which has been hard because laying down gets so uncomfortable after awhile. I woke up this morning and my fever has gone down thankfully! I am wondering if I'm starting to get a uti and that might've caused it. I'll monitor my temperature and possible uti and call my dr tomorrow if needed.
Thanks for the replies...it really helps to know there's other people who understand!

With all the swelling that occurs from surgery, its common for the bladder to feel off & tender. This makes us question if we have a UTI..frequently, its all the normal symptoms of recovery. If youre concerned, just continue to check your temp & if an infection, usually the urine would be cloudy or cloudy w/ tinges of pink or blood.

Sleeping with many pillows or a wedge pillow is helpful. Heating pad for discomfort. Feel better
