Re: Two days post hysterectomy - is weight gain inevitable?

I wasn't able to keep my one ovary and no weight gain here.
As long as you eat right and when you are cleared for it, exercise regularly you won't gain weight.
Take care

Re: Two days post hysterectomy - is weight gain inevitable?

I don't think you will automatically gain, but you have to watch what you eat more and exercise. I too started a diet and exercise before hand. I also quit smoking and was taking Lupron Depot so all factors were against me for weight loss and as of today I am 19 pounds down from my Jan 1 weight. I used the dash diet and some exercise DVD's pre-op. For now Dash diet and walking but I can't wait to get back into my routine.

Hi sisters, I had total laparoscopic hysterectomy in April 2014 and since then I have gained 30lbs. I kept my ovaries though.

Re: Two days post hysterectomy - is weight gain inevitable?

Whether you lose or gain weight after surgery depends on your lifestyle. If you lived a healthy lifestyle before the surgery, you should be able to go back to your normal weight after the surgery,if you go back to that lifestyle. Unless you have a health issue that causes you to gain weight, overeating, unhealthy diet, and not exercising would be the cause of weight gain.

Two days post hysterectomy - is weight gain inevitable?

I think it just depends on everyone's unique situation.
I am 3 weeks post-op, TAH, everything out, but Stage 3 endo cancer.
I've actually lost 10 pounds since surgery, my blood sugars are far easier to control than they've been in years now that the cancer is out. I'm wondering if having a hysterectomy has helped correct the PCOS I had which made it so hard to lose weight

Thanks! I've lost 7 lb since I was weighed on Thursday. It puts me at 11 lb lighter since the day before surgery.

Re: Two days post hysterectomy - is weight gain inevitable?

I had my hysterectomy in June and am about 15 pounds heavier now....it isn't just the weight gain that's frustrating, it's the gross swelly belly that everyone keeps saying will go away, but I'm feeling a bit skeptical. I do eat right and was more physically active before the surgery. Need to get back into that routine but it still feels like I've swelled up since the surgery and am very frustrated!!!
