Quick ? re spotting

I'm 11 days post-op from a daVinci TLH and just had some pink spotting following my bm. I've not had any discharge save a small amount of brown discharge the first couple of days following surgery. I'm not sure when it warrants a call to the doc.

Advice?

Re: Quick ? re spotting

I had spotting starting at day 8, and it didn't stop until after I hit week 5. If it was light, you can always call you DR if feel you need to, but I wouldn't worry about it. I freaked out when I started spotting all of a sudden. I thought I had overdone it, and hurt myself. It was just my cuff healing, and my DR said everything looked really good. It would make sense that it happen after a bm - even if there is no straining you are still pushing and using muscles that are connected to everything else down there.

Most DRs say call if you bleed enough to soak through a pad in an hour. Even if you don't go in, you might just tell you DR so he/she knows what is going on with your recovery! Good luck and happy healing!

Re: Quick ? re spotting

The light pink spotting is normal for post op around now. It's the healing and the stitches dissolving. If it gets heavy or changes to red, you need to check with your Dr.

Hope your continue to recover well!

Re: Quick ? re spotting

Thanks, ladies. It stopped almost as quickly as it started. I see the doc on Friday and will mention it. It just caught me off guard since I hadn't seen anything like that since the surgery.
