Qualification for Robot

My doc had mentioned the robot type hysterectomy at our last visit. I was wondering if that is possible on someone who has had three previous C-sections?

I've had one c-section and 1 ovarian surgery with a c-secton type incision and my gyn recommended robotic for my hysterectomy. In addition my gyn told me that with the daVinci surgery my organs would be removed through the vagina. She asked if I'd ever delivered vaginally (I have). I remember reading somewhere that if you've never delivered vaginally then a vaginal hyst can be much more difficult if not impossible because there just isn't enough room.

Since I've been referred to a da Vinci surgeon and I have considerable scar tissue in that area I think it's safe to assume that it's possible. I'm sure it all depends on your unique physiology so the only person who can give you a definitive answer is your surgeon.

THank you for your reply. I have never given birth vaginally...it will be interesting to hear what my gyn says if/when we talk further on the issue. (his brief mention of the hysterectomy option/robot was when I was in a whole different mindset and wanting alternative options...and didn't want to discuss hysterectomy....now Im thinking he brought it up because i don't have many other options at this point...we'll see.) I meet with him again day after tomorrow..

I have never given birth and had a daVinci surgery with the uterus removed vaginally.

There is a possibility that it could convert to an abdominal surgery. They will check things out and let you know.
