worried sbout weight gain

I am having surgery 5-21 to remove 2"diner plate" (Doc's word) size fibriods and their many friends...I am very worried about gaining weight...since Jan 15th I have through diet and exercise lost about 40 lbs with 40 more to go...I don't want to gain weight as I have worked VERY hard to get it off...anyone have any suggestions how I can NOT gain while recuperating? or is this something I shouldn't be so worried about?

Thanks for letting me whine

worried sbout weight gain

I'm 5+ weeks post from a TVH. I was able to get up and walk around after the first day so I took advantage of every bathroom trip and water refill to take a stroll around the house. Lifting up on tip toes, arm stretches etc kept me moving and feeling like I was 'working" my body. I drank tons of water, ate good foods and worked up to walking outside...doing 3+ miles at this point. I'm not taking HRT (I'm 44...so far so good!) and have lost almost 20lbs since my final period a week before surgery. I'm hoping to lose another 20..I've rewarded myself with a few new clothes to go with the new bod and keep me motivated. Amazingly, I have absolutely no cravings for chocolates, sweets etc. Prior to surgery, I considered chocolate my favorite food group. Keep up the good work...that's quite an accomplishment!!

The body uses a tremendous amount of energy to heal after surgery. It's important that you don't try to actually diet after surgery, until you are totally recovered. That doesn't mean eat anything you want though. Eat lots of nutritious food, a good balanced diet.

Best wishes!
