Estrogen patch, nausea and sick to stomach

TAH, October 16th, 2006
I am on the estrogen patch, Vivelle, and have been sick to my stomach off and on. Nothing really sounds good to eat and I have vomited off and on. Is anyone else having these problems and should it subside? I don't think I can deal with the hot flashes and moodiness so I am winging it and hoping these uncomfortable symptoms will pass. Thanks for your help.....get well

Estrogen patch, nausea and sick to stomach

Oh, sorry to hear that. I use the Climara patch and have never had that side effect. Hopefully someone who uses Vivelle will come on with some feedback. I don't think that is a normal reaction though. Oh, I see you just had your hyst. Take it easy. These first few weeks can be tough and your body is going through so much and trying to heal. That particular patch might not be the right one for you. Maybe you should call your doctor?

Suzie,
I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. As you are still early post op, I think you should give the doctor a call. It may not have anything to do with the patch. However, if it turns out that the patch is causing your symptoms, you do have other options for hrt. Hormones are not one size fits all, that's why it is great that we do have so many options. in there and give your doctor a call.

Estrogen patch, nausea and sick to stomach

I had nausea from the Vivelle Dot patch as well as the generic estradiol patch. I never vomited, but the nausea was fairly debilitating. My doctor switched me to Estrogel (a gel I apply to my arm once a day) and so far it is working great and I have no side effects whatsoever.

As the others have said, because you are so early in your recovery, you really ought to call your doctor just in case the vomiting is not related to the estrogen.

Best wishes.

Estrogen patch, nausea and sick to stomach

I am on the Vivelle patch which I replace twice a week. I had my surgery just a few days prior to you, 10-11-06. I changed my patch for the 2nd time last Thursday. I then started having indigestion problems, and was throwing up early the next morning. I did not associate it with the patch I figured I did too much to soon. Now I seem to have cronic indigestion. It's so hard to know what to expect with this life change. Maybe you should call your doctor and tell him of your symptoms. Maybe I should too!
