Feel amazing

I was practically doing a happy dance when I left the gyn office after he said I needed a hysterectomy. When people tell me they're sorry that I needed this, I tell them how I remember during 10th grade passing out in the hallway trying to get to the nurse. This has controlled me for over half of my life (20 years out of my 34). I have an 8 yr old boy, and fortunately we always wanted only one. As far as I'm concerned, aside from giving me my precious son, my parts have been nothing but grief. I was more than happy to see them go. I am 10 days post op and emotionally I feel amazing. I have been set free, and when I am done healing I feel like I can start fresh and live my life the way on my terms, and not my period's.

Well ladies...it is nice to hear how excited some of you are. I was excited at first...then scared...then wanted to cancel my surgery....then okay with it...and now scared again. Not for the loss of my uterus...I am so over the bleeding and I have my 2 boys. Its just the recover I'm afraid of and the weight gain issue I keep hearing about. That terrifies me!!! BUT..it is so nice to hear people happy about this. It encourages me to follow through with this. My surgery is in a week...

Wow so nice to read some positives. Like many of you gals i am keen to have things improve. Growing voilets i was interested to read that you cannot take pain meds. I too am like this and have the doctors wondering what they can give me for pain relief after my op. What did you use for this? Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much x
