3 days post op headache

I've had a lingering headache for 2 days and my pain meds are not helping....drinking plenty of water and walking....any ideas why I have a headache???

I just posted ... didn't see yours. I started having h/a 4 days after surgery. They are migraines caused by hormone changes. I was told that this is not normal so I guess we are special with how our bodies handle hormones. Anyway, I went to my primcary care and got a prescription for imitrex... you take 30 min when your headache starts and it is wonderful. never had migraines before so this is new for me.... also i am on compounded progesterone. Not sure yet if this is helping or not.... I am 3 weeks post-op.

Just found out that 5-HTP which is a supplement could help migraines so going to get some of this tomorrow and see how it works. Want to get off my migraine meds.

I had a raging headache that brought me to tears and made me feel like I was going to throw up on day 3 up recovery. tit was horrible..... I think it was either anesthesia headache or my pain meds. So I quit taking the pain meds(dilaudid) and have not had a problem since.

I had headaches for well over a week post-op, along with neck pains, despite the percoset and motrin. I thought it might be stress from hunching my shoulders and sort of walking funny to try to protect my tummy, and all the stress of trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Around a week and a half they finally let up, not sure why or what was causing them in the first place. I take 5-HTP regularly but stopped before and for a while after the surgery. I wish I had been paying more attention to see if the headaches went away when I started taking it again. Hope they stop for you soon!

My post op headache was due mostly to the anesthesia and the Co2. Once those cleared my system, I was pretty well out of the headache zone.
