vaginal hyst. recovery time??

I am scheduled for a VH on September 17th. I have a few questions about recovery. I am so confused every where I read it gives different information about recovery time, anywhere from 2-4 weeks. I have planned to take 2 weeks off, the third week i will be taking a mini-vacation, so hopefully all will be well... Also I have a question about sex afterwards. I am a very sexual person and am not looking forward to having to wait 6 weeks. Do you have to wait that long?? Also i have read that sometimes the vagina is shortened?? Has anyone had this problem?? I don't know what to except. I am 33 and have two children (both were vag. deliveries). I handle pain well, so any help would be great. Thanks to everyone !!

vaginal hyst. recovery time??

Hi,

I had a TVH June 23rd. I'm a little older than you (48) but my recovery was good. You should expect to feel pretty good after a week but should take it real easy for at least another two or even three. I was off meds after day 2 but layed around all the first week. I actually drove to Walmart (3 miles) at a week and a half for a few things. This is not advised. Probably shouldn't drive for two weeks. Everyone is different but all in all the recovery is short. Don't let the lack of outisde incision fool you. There are plenty of stitches inside. As far as sex goes it has been good. At first I switched positions so I could be in control because I didnt' want any pain. Hubby didn't complain andjavascript:smilie('')
LOL as far as I can tell he is still enjoying it
Hope this helps.

Go by your doctor's advice.... I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 weeks or lift anything heavier than a kettle! But I did have a repair as well.

vaginal hyst. recovery time??

I did great with my recovery. After the first 3 days of gas pains, I felt wonderful. I still took it easy and didn't do any heavy lifting. I was told I could drive if I was off pain meds. I never used them after I left the hospital, but still waited 1 week to drive and didn't have any problem. I strongly suggest the gasx and stool softener be started right away (they also gave you that in the hospital) and lots of drinking water and getting up and walking around will help too. We are all different in our recoveries, but I was very fortunate to have a successful one and I wish the same to you. Just pamper yourself--its hard to remember you had surgery since you don't see any stiches!
