Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
I am heading in for my surgery Tuesday the 18th. I just re read the pre - op instructions which said not to wear 'nail polish'.
My question is; does this include my toes? I had planned a pedicure tomorrow, and if all I can do is look at my toes, I was hoping they looked pretty back!
Do you think this is intended for 'finger' nail, or includes my toes?
Getting alittle nervous, but doing great for the most part!
Bonny

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
HI Bonny, I just read your question about nail polish and was wondering the exact same thing. My surgery is scheduled for the 26th and plan on a pedicure on the 25th. I will be sure to watch your thread for what the other sisters share with you. Good luck on the 18th. I will be thinking good thoughts your way. Middleteacher

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
In general, it's only meant for the fingers - they want to be able to see the nail beds and use a pulse oxymeter (that ET like thing on your finger with the red light). Both methods are used to check your oxygen levels.
Yo ucan always call your doc's office and ask if a pedi is ok. Worst case, they can put clear polish on. At least you'll feel better, if not more colorful

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
Hi ladies
I think you should check with your hospital. I get acrylic over my own nails. My told me that she thought that I would have to remove the acrylic. The hospital never mentioned it in the pre-op over the phone or the one in person. So, 2 days before surgery, I got my nails done and decided to really go out on a limb and got a pedicure.
I got designs on all 10 fingers as usual and they never said a word.
Just thought I'd share my experience. Blessings on you ...

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
I had the same worries, and also had a mani and pedi the day before and just did my usual clear on the hands and color on the toes. Nothing was said and I woke up from surgery with it still on. It seems if it is a no no to your Dr. they would tell you in your pre-op.
Best of Luck to you two gals with your surgeries and recoveries!!!

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
I arrived at hospital with lovely freshly painted finger & toe nails. After all with this op who does'nt want to look pretty when your under! LOL
But alas very stern older nurse made me take off all finger nail polish for the same reasons as Nofrills has explained, pulse oxymeter. Apparently the polish can give false readings or something!!!!
Anyway, I still had pretty toe nails.

Pre OP - Nail Polish not allowed?
I wear acrylics, and was told by the hospital, no acrylics, and clear polish, so I took off the acrylics and did a french pedicure and just put clear on my hands. it feels strange not having my long pretty nails, but hey, I will give them a breather now.
blessings,
