Leg Pain

Good Morning Ladies,
Just a little over 2 weeks from my surgery TAH kept both ovaries.
I'm feeling better everyday. Yesterday home alone again and wanted to get out. After 3 hours of errands all of a sudden I could hardly walk due to pain in my upper leg. What it feels like is a sore muscle. I think all I did was pull or strain the muscle in my leg.

Is this something I sould be concerned with? The pain would not be related to anything else?? This AM I can hardly walk due to the pain. Bummer.

Good news is that sweely belly really went down this weekend and I enjoy getting out of the house yesterday.
Thanks,
abbyhah

Leg Pain

(((abbyhah))), if your pain is so severe you can hardly walk you need to go to the emergency room. It could be something serious like a blood clot. Please call your doctor about the pain or have someone take you to the emergency room to be checked out. Let us know how you're doing, okay?

Leg Pain

I think it's good to err on the side of caution. The sooner you go and get checked the better.

I don't want to scare you, but if it is a blood clot, you shouldn't be up and about. You should lie down with your legs elevated and don't rub the area.

Take care, and do let us know how it all checks out.

Leg Pain

At 3 weeks after my TAH I was having terrible pains in my calf. One of the items on my hospital discharge sheet was to see your dr if having pain in the leg or calf. I saw my dr and he sent me for an ultrasound of my leg to check for blood clots. They found no clots. I thought that I had just pulled a muscle as well but out of caution had it checked out. My dr had me take calcium and magnesium supplements as well as getting potassium which I took in the form of bananas and oj. In five days I was pain free. I would get checked out just to make sure. Hope all else is fine. Lainie
PS - is your leg swollen, red, tender to the touch? these are signs that it could be a clot too.

Leg Pain

Hi Guys,
I called my doc he said the only way to tell if it is a clot was to go to the ER. He said it could be muscle pull or strain but if I had concerns to go in.

Pain is better this afternoon so have not gone in. I might have been stiff this AM. I was pretty worried. If anything changes I'll let you know.

You guys have a great day.
Thanks again...it helps to get your feedback and support.

I think you should read this (link below) and reconsider going to the ER.

Leg Pain

The pain is gone today so I do not think I pulled a muscle either. If it is a clot would the pain come and go?

Leg Pain

Here's a link to the Mayo Clinic website on Thrombophlebitis which is what clots in the leg (usually after surgery, bed rest or plane trips) are called.

I don't know if it can come & go - If I were you, I'd check again with my Doc and ask him or her that question.

Leg Pain

Please go to the doctor and get this checked out. I have had 2 episodes of deep vein thrombosis in my left leg in the past 10 years and will be on blood thinners for the rest of my life, so I know from experience. The pain can come and go. If you keep it elevated, pain and swelling will subside, so you can definitely be fooled you into believing you're o.k. No harm in getting it checked. Better to be safe, than sorry!
