Question on behalf of DH

Hello ladies,

Surgery is 4 days away (Wednesday 5/30) and my DH has asked me to ask a question on his behalf.

He so desires to help me and take care of me. He loves me so much he wishes he could do something more to help me but feels totally helpless. I have assured him that he is doing a great job -- listening EVERY time I want to talk about it, helping me plan, etc. -- and I have printed out the "How to care for a punctured princess" page. One day I asked him what he felt like he needed to do and he said, "Fix it." Which of course is what he CAN'T do.

So ... his question is, do you ladies have any other suggestions for how he can help his "lady in waiting" right now other than listening, holding me, and loving me. I think he's doing a great job, but he always wants to do better!

Thanks,
Rosa (on behalf of DH Bob)

Question on behalf of DH

Hi Rosa,

I had my TAH in January. My husband was soo much support for me. You are just a few days away from your surgery. One idea may be to make a list for what is needed when you return home from the hospital. You will probably only be in for a few days and home you come! Everyting from grocerices, frozen food, laundry, and maybe a cleaning service in a few weeks. I had a bikini incision and am very happy with it. God bless to you and your family.

Question on behalf of DH

Rosa - My dh gave me foot rubs and back rubs to help me relax prior to surgery...it felt wonderful..and did work. Other than helping you get things ready..there's not a lot dh can do other than just being there.

Question on behalf of DH

Dear Bob,

I bet your Lady in Waiting would love a full body massage.(I know this LIW Does ) Plus it also helps alleviate all the stress your LIW is feeling. Nothing like a good Massage to take your mind off of things.

Have a Great Day

Question on behalf of DH

What a nice guy your DH is! Men and women think along different lines. A woman, most times, just needs to be listened to. A man feels like he must DO SOMETHING, take action of some sort. Assure your DH that you are fine for now, and tell him to rest up! When you come home he'll be busy enough for the both of you!

Question on behalf of DH

My DH says you have him pegged right - he says he loves me so much he hates to see me have to go through this and he feels helpless not to do anything that he considers concrete to help me. He said he looks at waiting on me and doing things for me after I get home as an act of love but he says he consoles himself with the thought that to the extent he is able, he'll be going through this with me. He appreciated your response.
