no libido

Hi!

I had zero libido after my hysterectomy/oophorectomy too and I agree--it really stinks!

In my case, careful balancing of estrogen, progesterone and finally testosterone is what brought back the missing component. You might want to start by printing the Too Much/Too Little symptom list. Check off all of the symptoms you are experiencing and then take the list with you when you see your doctor. Let your doctor know about the missing libido and ask to have your free and total testosterone levels checked. If your levels are low, chances are good that adding testosterone to your hormone therapy will bring back your missing libido. If your levels are okay, your doctor can help you figure out other possible causes, such as thyroid imbalance or other medications which can interfere with response.

I've been using 1% compounded testosterone cream for several years now. I initially used it daily until my levels were replenished and now use it just once a week or so. Compounded testosterone cream is available by prescription only from a compounding pharmacy. If you find that you need this cream and don't know where a compounding pharmacy is, try checking the yellow pages of your phone book or use the free locator service on this site: www.iacprx.org. That site will also provide information about what compounding is. As an added bonus, you can call a compounding pharmacist and ask which doctors use their services. That can help you find a doctor more knowledgeable about prescribing hormones if you feel your own doctor isn't as helpful as you would like.

I hope this helps! Keep us posted, okay?
