4 days to go

Hi,

I have 4 days left before surgery - and I am scared to death and sick of my family telling me not to worry it will be alright! I am terrified and they just think i am being a hyperchon. I have read through some post op concerns, and am very worried about the pain. I have had so many lapscopes (16) and two major surgeries - c section and retrovented uter. Will this make my operation and recovery time more painful??? Please help me with suggestions, what should I take with to hospital? I have prepared frozen meals for my family - what else should i do???
HELP???

4 days to go

Hello Misty first of all take a good deep breath and calm down. Before my hyster I had 13 operations involving my reproductive system of which 2 were laparosopes and one a caesarean birth. I had no problems with pain that was not manageable by pain meds (hope that made sense). Your family are only trying to help and I know that at this time you don't want to be told not to worry, because that seems impossible to you right now. But believe me you will be ok and it will be all over soon. I was once told by another hyster sister that it is like being on an emotional roller coaster , I will always remember that , as that is exactly what it is like. Now, what to take to hospital.... the usual toiletries and nightwear undies sanitary pads . There is a pulldown menu on this site that has a list of things to take. Have a look at that it is a great help. Hope this has helped a bit and remember we are always here for you. Best of luck and sending lots of love for you hyster,

Recovery

Hello fellow hystersister!! I too was nervous and thought I may share some things with you that worked for me. The hospital stay was okay but bringing some muchies like trail mix helped. The hospital should provide you with hygiene products like sanitary napkins and silly underwear which was nice because then you don't mess up your own. I brought my own lotion that made me smell nice and feel pretty. I also brought a small air freshener because the gas is a big problem and the thought of stinking up the room wasn't for me. New CDs for my CD player was nice and some new magazines kept me from getting too bored. When I got home, my husband and kids found that WALKIE TALKIES we a god send. They must think you nap all day long since they didn't check on me exactly when I was out of cold water! A cooler in my bedroom helped stuffed with juice, water, and fruit. Of course, my kids figured out I had the best snacks and visited me often! (I didn't mind though) Things will be OKAY for you, just figure to spend alot of time pampering yourself and napping.( a weekly housekeeper kept up the house half way decent) Good Luck to you, and believe me it will be over soon.
