Bleeding, one week post op, Factor V clotting disorder, on Lovenox.

I had my surgery 8 days ago. I had robotic laproscopy, with my ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus taken out. My uterus was removed through my vagina. The surgery was supposed to take less than two hours, but my ovaries were embedded in my abdomen wall and there was scar tissue entangled with my urethra, do the surgery was a little over 4 1/2 hours. They kept me in the hospital for two nights. I have to be injected with lovenox each day because of my clotting disorder (Factor V). I had quit bleeding by the time I came home. Today I guess I did a little too much walking, and started bleeding. At first it gushed a little, now it is a steady drip. I called the dr office, they said if I soak one pad an hour, call back. I'm not bleeding quite that much, but I'm gaging that on a nighttime pad. I'm a little afraid to go to sleep, I dont want to bleed out in the middle of the night. How do I calm down enough to actually sleep? Should I call the nurse back?

Honey I see that you posted this late last night. I hope you managed to get some sleep. How did you do? Is the bleeding less? I can certainly understand your fears in going to sleep when you have a clotting disorder. The soaking one pad in an hour is the general rule when gauging when the bleeding is too heavy, but that is a lot of bleeding. I would suggest you may want to go to the ER before you start bleeding that much. Hope you're ok.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I've been taking it extremely easy (including no sitting up using my laptop). I had to go to my doc the next day, and he used silver nitrate, and another compound that looked like grey putty, to make the bleeding stop. He said that if I was not taking the Lovenox injections, it would have stopped on its own immediately, but since I was on Lovenox, it would not have stopped on its own, so it's good that I contacted them immediately. I'm doing alot better now, and today is my last post-op Lovenox injection, yay!

i also have a clotting disorder and was on lovenox for 4 weeks after my hysterectomy. lovenox does not make you bleed more so dont worry. the bleeding is just from the surgery. and like everyone said the pad test
