Food after TAH

I think as long as your digestive system is functioning properly, and if you aren't too nauseated, you can eat anything you want. I had solids while still in the hospital, but can't remember if I Had to have a day of liquids first or anything like that.

Good luck with the surgery. Is there a suspicion of cancer?

Let us know how things go.

Food after TAH

I had my TAH LSO on Dec 6th. I left the hospital with no food restrictions. I have eaten light since I've been home due to the swelly belly feeling. I don't want to overeat. After I started passing gas at the hospital the put me on a regular diet. Hope that helps.

I had solids day after surgery.......You may not feel like eating though. Not sure if it was the effects of the surgery or just bad hospital food ! I had a regular diet at home ! Good luck!!

Food after TAH

i transitioned from liquids to regular food at the hospital. and when i got home, i didn't have much of an appetite for a while, and just ate small meals....and comfort foods such as eggs, soups, and easy stuff like that. i had to stay clear of some things which added to my digestive troubles right after the surgery - that meant constipation for me! - someone gave me nuts as a gift, and that was awful on my tummy! why are you have the hysterectomy? hope all goes smoothly. best wishes.

Food after TAH

Some women complain of a sore throat following surgery because of the ventilator tube they put down your throat during anesthesia. You might want soft foods because of this, though they certainly aren't required. This doesn't usually last more than a couple of days. My anesthesiologist, however, scraped a large patch of skin off the back of my upper palate and for 10 days post-op the only thing I could swallow without pain was luke warm water. I ate bananas and noodles and the like.
