Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

Hi, I am 26 years old and I have been having problems for about 2 years and I just had DNC, and a Tubal done Feb 6 and that did not help me, this month my menstrual was killing me with back pains, blood clots and couldn't work. So my Doctor decides after birth control, and DNC didn't work that I need a hysterectomy and scheduled for surgery April 26 and I am nervous and need some support to make me feel better. Thanks!

Hi

I am 46 and have had these types of problems since I was a teenager.

I am afraid too but I think that is normal. I have had six or so surgeries in life and I get more afraid with each one and I don't know why.

Hysterectomy is a very personal decision but I wish I would have done it a long time ago . Too many years of being in pain.

The only thing I can tell you is that since I became a member the most common thing I have heard from people after they return from the hospital, is that the waiting for surgery is the hardest part.
I go on the 28th.

I pray we both do really well.
Let us know how you do

Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

Good luck with your surgery. It's natural to be nervous. I just got my date for surgery on Friday and I couldn't stop shaking even though I know it's for the best.

I just had a d & c done also and it didn't do any good. The only thing it accomplished was making it impossible for my insurance company to complain about approving my surgery.

After having had a biopsey and the d & c there wasn't anything left they could say needed to be tried. I got my approval in 24 hours.

Please let us know how you made out when you get home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

I am 54 and had a TAH/BSO on Mar. 10. I was also a total nervous wreck before the surgery. From reading on this site I've discovered just about everybody becomes a nervous wreck before surgery. It is a difficult time to get through. Hopefully you have some kind of support system to help you. I know one thing for sure, both of you have a superior support system right here on this site. The women here have been tremendous for me and they will be the same for you, too. Hang in there. My hope for you is that your surgery goes as smoothly as mine did.

It's normal!

Elise, what you are experiencing is normal! I had a TAH on April 5th and had a VERY easy recovery. If you want to read encouragement, click on "My Journal" under my user name at the left. Not everyone has it as easy as I have (I'm VERY fortunate), so please don't compare your recovery with mine or anyone else's, but it doesn't always mean weeks of pain & being flat on your back...

My thoughts and prayers are with all princesses to be this week! We will be waiting for you when you get home!

Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

Just wanted you to know that being nervous and scared is normal. Those of us with upcoming surgeries, we all share your feelings, and those who have already gone before us, they know exactly what we are going through.

Will it help you feel better to know, that you and I share the same day? I to am having surgery on April 26. Right now, with less than 24 hours left, I am a nervous wreck.

Hang in there, I will be sure to include you in my prayers.

Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

I too am very nervous. I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow also, April 26th. While I have had several surgeries in the past, this one seems like a more life-changing one. I am worried about what will change in me afterwards (besides being finally free from periods and pain!). This site has been very helpful for me, reading all the others' experiences. It is nice to know about all the "hugs" waiting for me when I come back from the castle.

Surgery April 26, I am getting nervous

Well, I am home from my castle visit. I had surgery on apr 26th.
I am heading to dr office today to remove sutures. Overall, I am doing ok. I am still in a lot of pain, but keep popping the pills. I get weak after doing the smallest things and lay down a lot! I was disappointed to see I only lost 3 pounds! I was hoping to at least lose 5 pounds through this ordeal. Hope all my Apr 26 surgery sisters are doing well.
