Will this get rid of my belly?

Hello all, I am going in for surgery on Wednesday the 16th of June I was told that after my surgery my pooch will go away some...I am one to believe anything anyone tells me so I thought I would ask if this is true.

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

Hi Ashhan. I have the same question and it looks like we're in surgery on the same day. I hope it works that way.

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

I don't think so! In fact we all temporarily get even more pooch aka swelly belly on this site! Some folks coordinated with a surgeon to also do some lipo when they got their abdominal hysterectomies done, but other than that....you're only losing a pear shaped amount of you-it's pretty negligible when all is said and done. Too bad for me! coulda done without some of my pooch too!

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

Thanks Meckaheckahigh, but what a bummer! With so many extra inches of "stuff" that doesn't belong, I was hoping to lose some pounds and inches. Ah, well, sigh. . .

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

I've heard of some women's bellies looking smaller afterwards because their uterus was so enlarged they looked pregnant. I know mine is enlarged (adenomyosis) so I'm curious to find out how big it really is. I'm overweight anyway so I know I won't look dramatically different even if it's the size of a watermelon! LOL (which I doubt, just being funny)

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

Ashhan and Karodra,
I am on the same day as you two ladies.

My doctor told me that my uterus was almost up to my
bellly button and that I will lose my pooch but it will take a little bit of time. How much time she couldn't be sure because she says everyone is different.

Good luck on Wednesday.

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

Well, I ask because I have adenomiosis and they are telling me that the size of my uterus is like I am 3 months pregnant. I was hoping that after they take it out I will no longer look 3 months pregnant. I will be really sad if it stays with me....

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

I thought the same thing~~it will go away very little. I had talked my doc. into doing a small "tuck" also, so after the swelling goes down, it was better. But, if you have a "pooch" it never goes TOTALLY away. Good Luck on your proceedure!!! Speedy recovery to you.

Re: Will this get rid of my belly?

Sounds like we are all in the same boat. My doc didn't say how big mine is, but as mentioned I'm overweight anyway. Would be nice if it help with not just my waistline but my back problems! Never thought of that... Joked with my doc at my last appt about doing a tummy tuck while doing the surgery... the nurse and I chuckled but the doc didn't... she must've not thought it was as funny as the nurse and I did.
