Hair thinning after surgery

I had my uterus removed vaginally due to heavy and irregular bleeding on July 23, 2008. The pathology report showed adenomyosis. I have had no problems and my quality of life is vastly improved. However, in the past month I have noticed a lot more loss of hair from my head than usual. My hair was pretty thin and fine to begin with, so I'm getting pretty nervous that I'm going to end up bald! I wondered if this could be the result of the surgery and if there's anything I can do about it.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had this same problem!!!

I started using Nioxin and it has helped. I dont have a thickening effect but, the thinning has stopped.

You can buy it at most salons. I heard that Sally beauty supply has a generic version of it. Havent tried it though. I dont use the whole system, just the shampoo.

I also had this happen to me at around 4 months post op, I changed my shampoo/conditioner to a milder one and washed my hair with cool water instead of hot, and now I am 9 months post op, and now is when I can notice that the thinning has stopped and my hair is beggining to get normal again.
our bodies suffer a big trauma with this surgery and it affects us in different ways. I pray that your hair gets better and healthier soon

Hair thinning after surgery

My hair started thinning out right after surgery. I've always had very thick hair, so losing some of it was not that noticeable. Of course, I'm completely bald not.....thanks to chemo! I've heard many women complain about thinning hair after hyst or during menopause, I guess it's just one of the lovely things we have to look forward to throughout our journey down this confusing road.
