PitterPat's Nest Idea

I read this at the end of one of my postings, and I'm going to share what I'm doing, 'cause it will help me pass the time as I go in for surgery on Monday the 5th. I am unable to sleep well, nervous as can be, and will probably re-pack what little I am taking about 10 times.
The nest I'm setting aside will be where I am laying or sitting downstairs. I have 7 kitties, and everything is theirs, so I have to be more creative in my projects.
I've got a bunch of books, a crosstitch Christmas stocking for my nephew, scrapbooking, rubberstamping, homework with the girls, water colors, crayons and books (okay, I'm a big kid, but it really is relaxing!) and I can watch tv, listen to cds, fix myself tea, and sleep.
Thank you PitterPat, this is such a great way to occupy yourself after surgery, and a great way to keep your mind off surgery before!
Because of the extent of my surgery, I'll post when I can. I already have people volunteering to visit, and I already told my DH I'm not holding court or visiting anyone I don't want to. I think I'm going to be selfish about recovery, ignore the "that's too long to heal" (I'm looking easily at 3-4 weeks) people and go at the pace my body requires. Hugs to all the sisters here!! You've all helped me prepare!!

Recovery

Hello! I had a VH with PR on Jan. 17 and found the first week I was definately recovering. About half way through the second seek, I found myself bored. I have had 3 post op visits with doc and says I am doing very well. I can do just about anything with moderation and of course no lifting heavy objects (like laundry baskets). I have been slowly starting up the laundry only to carry small bunches alittle at a time. I couldn't stand laying down doing "nothing" any more. I also nap, watch TV and gab on the phone, but allowed myself to be in charge of what I can and can't do. Lots of luck and be in charge of yourself, us ladies have a inner sense that lets us know when we can do things or when we should wait a bit longer....TAKE CARE!

Linda, you have the right idea! It's okay to be selfish in your recovery. Take time to heal, and at the same time find pleasure in the 'little things' in life. You've been taking care of others and they will likely welcome the opportunity to help you now. Best wishes,
