Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy and now in pain
I had my post op appt last week and was cleared for all activities. I have continued to take it easy, but woke this morning with horrible pain on right abdomen. I have tried Advil and Percocet (left from surgery) and nothing seems to help the pain. I called the Gyno and waiting for nurse to call. No bleeding just horrible pain. I still have ovaries. Anyone feel this type of pain this far into post op?

Re: Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy and now in pain
You're wise to resume activities gradually. Yes I've had pains 6-10 weeks out, but not as intense as you describe. I have mistaken bowel "workings" for post-op pains before, and those can be pretty strong. The fact that ibuprofen and Percocet didn't dent it makes me wonder if tumbling bowels or gas might be the culprit.
A call to the doc's is probably the best bet - guideline is usually to call for new, intense or otherwise unexplained pains. They know the right questions to ask to determine if it's in the range of normal, or whether you should come in for tests to rule out an infection or tear.

Could you be constipated? Even when you go a little bit each day it may still be backing up. I'm sure your bowels are still a little bit slow. I'm not as far out as you are but I have that problem and have to clear out with some milk of magnesia maybe once per week.

Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy and now in pain
Doc says that I probably have a burst ovarian cyst and that the pain should subside. The pain is on the side with the ovary that has vericose veins. Now I'm wondering if I should have just had them take the ovaries too. We didn't find out about the veins until after my surgery. Hopefully this isn't my new monthly norm.

I sure hope it gets better. They try to save the ovaries if possible. my doc found cysts on mine when he was doing my hysterectomy but cleaned them off. So far, so good. I wonder why they didn't clean yours when they were in there.

Re: Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy and now in pain
I'm glad you were able to get in so quick. I never heard of vericose veins on an ovary. Did he say if they will come back or what do they do for that?
I personally have had cysts burst inside my ovaries. I had two large complex cysts before surgery and the Dr wanted to just clean them out-but I asked him to at least take my right one-even if it looked like a healthy ovary because I have always had issues with the right ovary and I really just wanted it out. I am 45 and I had 2 burst since I was 20 yrs old (extremely painful w/ lots of bleeding afterwards), so I really felt why keep it and continue to have monthly pain on that side-I have had to deal with it for 25 yrs. My left one has always had them as well, but they were never large or burst on that side.
I hope you feel better soon!!
Thanks for keeping us posted on the outcome

I'm not sure why. They found my uterus fused to my bladder when they got in there so there was a lot more work to be done than expected. I'm hoping to meet with a naturalist so see if there is something natural that I can take to balance my hormones and stop them from forming.

He said the vericose veins can cause pain and they don't go away without surgery. I'm wishing he would have just taken the right ovary during surgery.
