Dr rethinking plan for hysterectomy, suggesting Mirena IUD

That's strange... I thought I posted you earlier but somehow it didn't get up here!

Anyway! I also want to wish you the best... and ask that you keep us posted... I am also seriously thinking instead of a hyst on June 2nd that I ask for another diagnostic laparascopy and the Mirena put in while I'm out cold... thus alleviating the immediate pain of insertion!

This is how I'm leaning right now, but I have 2 more days before I have to call my surgeon/gyno back and give her a clear answer...

I had the mirania for many years and was happy with it. I had heavy bleeding and cramps and the mirania helped that. I didn't have the cramping and the bleeding was almost none existant.

I was good until about 4-5 months ago and I started bleeding and didn't stop. This was due to the fibriods that I developed. I had LAVH May 13th and I am very happy so far. I could have tried the other options, but I felt that I would just delay the inevitable. To have this treatment and that treatment to only down the road have the Histerectomy anyway was not an option for me.

I am glad I decided to do it and was able to avoid TAH. If I had waited longer and the fibriods had grown larger, I would have had no choice but to get the TAH. That was a personal decision, I hate having all those procedures and I wanted to be done.

I will say the mirania works well, but of course it is different for everyone. I say if you are uncomfortable with the Histerectomy route, try the other options. If they work that is great. I wish you luck.
