Pain control after narcotics

I was curious to what methods/medications you all have used for pain control once the prescriptions have run out?

Re: Pain control after narcotics

Advil, Advil, Advil! I only used the narcotics for one day. I love Advil. And Advil loves me!!! Lol!

Re: Pain control after narcotics

I also used Advil (ibuprofen), it helps a lot with any swelling too. In the earlier Weeks (I'm just now 3Weeks post), I also used my binder to help with pain and discomfort and on occasion ice packs (ask your Dr first). Some ladies use heating pads but I was too hot for that! Lol (even in the snow storm) :-)

Re: Pain control after narcotics

I preferred Aleve over Advil, partly because it lasts 12 hrs. It worked for me.

Re: Pain control after narcotics

Ibuprofen alone is not relieving my pain after one month. I asked the doctor to refill my hydrocodone. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Pain control after narcotics

Have you tried taking more than 400mg? I alternated between 200, 400 & 600mg at different times.

Re: Pain control after narcotics

Ibuprofen and paracetamol can be taken alternatively every 2 hours (but no more than the recommended dose). Ask your pharmacist about this or see what else they suggest.
