Morning body stretch- natural reflex

Hey lovely sisters.. I'm 4 weeks post op and I'm still trying not to let my body do a full stretch upon wakening. Is anyone at the same stage allowing themselves? If so is there much pain?
If you've totally recovered can you remember how long it took to have a pain free stretch?..

Re: Morning body stretch- natural reflex

Oh yeah, I remember that! Early on, I'd start that stretch... and feel it right away! What I would do is force myself to stop (usually not a problem because I'd feel a twinge), and then stretch each limb one at a time. My arms didn't need it as much as my legs did. I'd point my toes and stretch as far as I could, one leg, then the other!

My recollection is a little hazy on when I was able to do a full morning stretch. I wasn't yet doing stretching at 4 weeks, but I'm thinking by 6 weeks I was starting or could already do so. By 8 weeks, I'm fairly sure I was, for by that time it was more intense activities which made me wary, not the day-to-day things.

Good question! Something so basic can make us stop and think!

Re: Morning body stretch- natural reflex

Thanks Cussette, that's a good idea, I'll try and stretch bit by bit..
I was thinking, perhaps this strong desire to stretch comes from not moving too much in the night. I tend to wake up around 3-4am in the same position I went to sleep in. Probs due to the discomfort of moving. I appreciate your reply and you're a real treasure on here!

The Fam gets a little scarce when I can't find where they put certain kitchen tools ,
but they keep me around anyway !
