3 Months post Hysterectomy - intimacy concerns

So im 3 months post Hysterectomy. I feel good,im back to work as a CHHA. Lots of lifting.
Everything seems to be great.
I took it easy for more then 8 weeks. DH didn't even let me drive or lift a finger so i could heal properly.
We were back to have sex at about 6 weeks, took it slow and easy, nothing crazy.
But i do notice that when my legs are all the way back (sorry tmi) i feel cramping and some pain. How common is it for a vaginal cuff to rip open?? I'm still nervous of this happening.
How often does this happen ??
Thanks in advance

Re: 3 Months post Hysterectomy - intimacy concerns

A vaginal cuff tear isn't common. According to an article here 1-4%, depending on a wide range of variables. You've been cleared for sex, and you've been taking it easy which is the best thing you could do, so the chances of that happening to you are small.

Your tissues are newly healed and still tender, though, so it's not unusual to still feel twinges and cramping. My last notable bout with cramping was at 5 months after a short (<5 mins) but intense abdominal workout.

If you notice any spotting after sex, it's always a good idea to touch base with your doctor. It doesn't necessarily mean you tore something because it could be from a variety of reasons. So in short... don't preoccupy yourself with worrying. You're doing well by taking it easy and building back up!
