If you contracted staph MRSA

I had a complete hysterectomy Nov. 11, 2005. I contracted resistant staph in my incision. I went through having an abcess, antibiotics, packing, all the yucky stuff.
After a couple of months, I felt pretty great 3 months post-op. Then I noticed my energy level declining rapidly, then pain in my hands. I remember looking down and seeing that my throbbing hands were bright red. But the fatigue was horrible.
I called my gyn. and described the symptoms to see if they could be hormonal. She said no. I asked it this could in any way be related to the infection -- again she said no.
My health began to decline, all over joint pain, chest pain (pleurisy), extreme fatigue, rash on my scalp.
Finally after seeing doctor, after doctor, I am informed that the MRSA staph and strong prolonged antibiotics after had started a domino reaction with my anti-immune system.
I now have lupus, or a lupus-like syndrome, 10 months post-op. I now am having to take a chemotherapy type drug, strong pain killers, and muscle relaxants. Basically, my whole body is inflamed. I have gained 44 lbs. in 6 months. I cannot work full time.
The point of this post is this ----
if you get an infection, especially MRSA, insist that you get readmitted and get IV antibiotics. The quicker the infection gets out of your body, the less likely it is to wreak havoc on your auto-immune system. This is my biggest regret. Otherwise, for the fellow infected, watch for all these symptoms, and if you have them, INSIST on seeing a rheumatologist, insist on it.
