Alcohol after hysterectomy??

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is feeling great and having speedy recoveries. Big hugs to those that aren't XO
I have a question. It's May long weekend and camping this long weekend is what everyone does! It's a weekend we look forward to all year!
This year, it's my brother in laws 40th bday party out at my moms acreage. All of our close family and friends are packing our campers up and heading out to my moms tomorrow.
I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op, and have been recovering really well, though I do get extra tired rather quickly. Because of this, my husband, kids and I are not taking our camper but are rather just going to stay in my moms house so we did not have to pack up our camper and grocery shop etc. I'm very much looking forward to heading out there and being around friends and family. Since my surgery, I've not done very much, and it will be so nice to be out of the house and enjoying the beautiful weather. I don't have anything to do but relax. My mom, sister and husband are constantly making sure I'm not doing anything that I shouldn't be. I just have one question.
This doesn't happen very often, but I know that since we're all together and it's a long weekend, there will be drinks at night by the fire. And this is usually really nice for my sister and I, as my mom will be around to take care of and put our kids to bed, leaving us to really relax! I'm not the kind of person to be able to drink 'a' glass of wine or 'a' beer. Is there any actual harm in having 2, 3 or at most 4 glasses of wine? I'm not sure if I'm up to it yet as I'm still at home right now and am quite tired at the moment. But once I'm out there, sitting by the fire, I may feel differently lol. Just wondering anyone's opinion on maybe having one too many 4 weeks out of surgery?! Any feedback sound be nice!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend 😊

Re: Alcohol after hysterectomy??

My surgical instructions were no alcohol for 24 hours before or after surgery AND/OR no alcohol as long as you are taking any narcotic pain relievers.

You might want to limit yourself to one or two glasses of wine, your body is still recovering and you may have a lower tolerance for alcohol.

Re: Alcohol after hysterectomy??

Thank you, DClay, for your response. I'm only planning on having a glass, I just wanted to know if there would be any serious effects if one glass turned to two,
and 2 turned to three through the course of the evening. I will most definitely listen to my body!
Have a great weekend😊

You're most welcome! Believe me, I plan on enjoying a bourbon as soon as I can. Have fun and take care of yourself!

Thanks so much for posting this article!! There were things in there that I never would have thought of. I think I'll just be sticking to one glass... or maybe even just tea lol.
Thanks again 😊

Re: Alcohol after hysterectomy??

I think if your recovery is going well, your not on pain meds and are walking/ feeling more normal it should be fine. I went to our weekend cottage 2 weeks post TAH and I enjoyed 4 vodka Ruskies, it did not do me any damage. It was lovely to actually relax and forget for a while. I am generally a wine drinker however knowing it makes me 'happy' a bit quicker I wanted something that wouldn't get me sloshed. If you only take enough for a couple of glasses down to the fire you will know when you have had your limit.

Great idea, Rentom!! I love wine, so that's what I've been wanting to drink by the fire. It does, however, hit me fast and get me 'happy' rather quickly as well lol.
I never thought of drinking something 'milder' , as silly as that sounds!
Problem solved. I will drink a vodka paralyzer or 2 or 3 or 4 instead lol.
Thanks for the tip!! I can't wait to be by the fire with a drink in my hand!
Take care😊
