I have my date

This is all going so fast. On April 9th my GYN nurse practitioner said it was time for a hysterectomy due to a 14 week size uterus from fibroids. I also have a cystocele. I saw an MD on April 15 and he agreed with her and ordered a urodynamic test for bladder control on April 29. That test came out fine, not an issue for me and he said he would agree to do the surgery in about 4-6 weeks. His office would contact me with a date. Well, May 10th they called and offered me a surgery date of May 20th. I'm amazed that I can get this done that fast. Like I wrote one of the other Ladies in Waiting that is having surgery the same day, I can't believe my last period was MY LAST PERIOD. I think I wrote in before saying I feel like a wimp when I read about what some of you dear ladies have gone through. But, why should I wait if I am misrable every month? I wll be 50 this Sept. and so he also advises that my ovaries be removed. I'm a little anxious about going on hormones but have decided to believe that I won't have a problem. If I do I'll deal with it then. My Gyn nurse practitioner is a woman older than I and probably has had a lot of experience with HRT either with patients or with herself. I am addicted to this web site and tell everyone about it. Luckily, I had already ordered and received my "Through the Land of Hyster" book and tea party gift basket. I just can't believe that I am having surgery a week from Monday!!

Congradulations on your surgery date. I am happy for you that you won't have to wait (and worry) any longer than necessary.
It will be nice for you to be on the otherside pretty soon.
You'll have a good part of the summer to look forward to after your recovery. I've already made one beach trip and it was so nice not to have to even think about what time of the month it was.
I am 50 also. I am on the Vivelle dot patch and it is working well for me. So keep your positive thoughts there too. And feel free to drop into the Hormone Jungle for a head start if you wish.
