Re: New Kid on the Block - TVH next month - SCARED!!

I had my TVH/BSO on 3/3/09 and I am SO glad I did. As far as the bowel prep (fleet) it really is not to bad. The best advice I got was to buy some hygenic cleansing pads with witchhazel in them and use them with the prep for cleaning off and it keeps from irritating the skin as bad.

As for the nausea from surgery, I had some issues in the past with it and I told my surgeon and the anesthesiologist and they gave new some meds in my IV before I went in to the OR and started my phenegran IV while I was in recovery before I even was really awake. My hubby told me that the nurses said that it should help keep me from being sick and it really did help. Maybe you can talk to your DR and have that done for you.

I wish you the best of luck and I can't wait to see you posting on the post-op boards! If you can handle the pain for as long as you have, youwill almost not be able to believe how much better you are goingto feel almost as soon as you wake up. (((HUGS))) to you! Don't forget to pamper the !!!

Re: New member, surgery scheduled

There's a great board on this site called tips and tricks or something like that. Check it out. It's great.

Re: New member, surgery scheduled

Read read and more read,

This site is great. I am 4 days post op and would have been very lost without it.

First off try to relax, Yes this is easier said than done. I had several days when I was freaking out. Waiting is the hardest part.

Go through this website with a fine tooth comb. There is a wealth of knowledge here.

Talk to us. We will help you get though this. We are all together in this.

Make sure you and your DR are on the same page.

Ask the Anesthesiologist for anti nausea meds during or right after surgery. Mine said that he like to prevent the problem rather than chasing it down and trying to stop it.

Good luck on your surgery.

Don't forget to smile and pamper the princess.
