daVinci scheduled Dec 7th - questions :)

Hello, I am having the daVinci procedure done next Tuesday. I am a little nervous but I have heard good things about this surgery. I will also be thankful to have this problem over with. I had my pre op appt today and my doctor suggested having my fallopian tubes removed along with my uterus and cervix. I am keeping my ovaries. She said there is new research that ovarian cancer may start in the f. tubes. It seems like a good idea. Are there any dangers to this? Are your ovaries ok without tubes and the uterus? I didn't think to ask all these questions today. Has anyone had this done and have any thoughts for me? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks so much! Michelle

laurier,

I have read good things about the da Vinci also.

We are having our surgery the same day.

I think you will really find comfort in using this site, and meet some very nice ladies.

Re: daVinci scheduled Dec 7th - questions :)

Yes, that is correct, the new trend is to remove the fallopian tubes to dramatically reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. From what I understand, they are doing this in europe, but it's not standard procedure in the US yet. I do not have any data on this, it would be worth researching. What I imagine is positive though, is that the removal of the tubes eliminates the problem of fallen tubes, which can occur post hyster.

I am having a daVinci surgery on Dec. 15, my doctor said the same thing and will be doing the same, removing uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes.

I'm having the daVinci on 12/27, but dr is taking ovaries, tubes and all due to adenosarcoma cancer. I'm curious and nervous! about the reality of the post-op recovery issues. Keep us posted on your experience please.
