Too Much Stress

I went back to work at 4 weeks - my students really needed me. I am still recovering so am bound by the no lifting etc. My incision is somewhat sore and I feel pressure around my midsection but I am glad I went back - I actually feel better than when I sit around at home but the problem is that now that I am back everyone thinks I am well and my schedule is quite full. I teach full time and am taking two grad classes for an extra certification. I am also a writer and have several projects due, some of which require traveling. My husband is a full time writer and travels most of the week. We are building a new house. At night when I start to think about all that needs to be done - I get very anxious but when daylight comes I try to take it one step at a time. I guess I just needed to vent to people that understand. I am envious of you all that have careers that allow you a real break to rest. I was in touch with my students (electronically) three days post op and don't really feel I emotionally rested. Enjoy your last few days before going back. AND THANKS for listening to me gripe.

Too Much Stress

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed. You sure got back in the swing of things quickly, and I can imagine you're feeling overwhelmed. I also have noticed that since my surgery I can't seem to handle the stress as well as I used to. My plate has always been very full, but now I feel like I need to cut out all the "extras" and have more time for myself. I don't know if that is hormonal, or just age!! Take some time for yourself, even if that means just doing nothing! You need the time to re-energize!
