What could happen??
Hey everyone.
I am 7 days post op of a complete hyst. Done with the da vinchi .
Situation. Mom of 7 year old twins. Married. But I am getting no help what so ever from spouse. He has made me 2 bowls of tomato soup, one of which I had to start preparing.
Since day of coming home, I have been caring for my children. Meals and so forth. But they were quick convience foods. I made them dinner last night and my tummy hurt so bad.
I was just wondering what could actually happen with doing things on my own. I do not feel like I am where I should be.

Re: What could happen??
Hi Jeaneem, I hope your husband decides to help out. If you do too much too soon, there can be some unpleasant consequences. Aside from slowing your healing, you could develop adhesions and cause tears or pop stitches in your vaginal cuff. Remember, you only get one chance to heal right the first time. If possible, have a talk with your husband and explain the consequences - ones that could lead to another surgery. Ask friends and family to pitch in. Some insurances pay for home aides for a while after surgery. Do what you can to make sure you get the rest you need.

Re: What could happen??
You really need your rest. I feel really bad that you are not getting the help that you need during this time. However, it is essential to your recovery that you listen to your body and get as much rest as possible. Not getting the required rest can result in your body taking longer to heal itself. Take advantage of the time you have while your children are at school. Try speaking with your husband and letting him know how important it is for you to get your rest. The more he cooperates the quicker things can go back to normal.

Re: What could happen??
Since you have two seven year old helpers use them!
My grand kids love to pitch in and help, make yourself the captain and let those little helpers pitch in.
They are capable of opening cans and using the microwave, they can bring you a tray with the goodies you indicate you need to sit and cut up a salad, or order out food...get it delivered!
Even if you will be sacrificing your regular cooking for something someone else made, it won't hurt for a few weeks.
It is so important to let your body heal and it sure won't hurt to have unmade beds or fast food for a little while.
I bet those two kids would be delighted to pitch in, most kids are so sweet and helpful at that age...I know they can learn to do laundry with supervision, I taught my grand daughter and she knows how to sort laundry, how to load the machine etc and she thinks she is a star!
Do you have a Costco that you are a member of nearby? Send your husband by on his way home from work. They have the best meatloaf dinner, pizza, chicken pot pie, all freshly made and ready to bake...and it is good!
Oh, and their rotisserie chicken! and pre made salads in the walk in cooler. See lots of options and you can have a good break.
I know some husbands just are not domestic, but there are lots of helps for them, just point them in the right direction. Appeal to his belly and tell him you want him to have a great dinner and this is the way to do it!
Invest in a big package of disposal plates, disposable forks, napkins and have the twins clean up by taking things to the garbage can, now is the time to make things simple!
Hang in there, just because dust piles up doesn't mean the finish is being ruined on the furniture... and the kids can swipe out the toilet with a brush and hang up their towels after a bath...

Re: What could happen??
Super suggestion. Thank you so much. Lee, you are very right. My kids do love pitching in.
I am making a list for my neighbor and she will be on her way to Costco for me.
I prepared beforehand with frozen foods but the fresh would be awesome.
I was just at a loss. I am extremely emotional. Feeling sorry for myself, I guess.
Thank you for being here

Re: What could happen??
Hang in there. I'm sorry your husband isn't helping very much. Mine isn't either. I keep getting the , "I work all day." speech. About the only thing I have done in the kitchen is load the dishwasher and boil water for noodles and eggs and make tuna salad or put a frozen lasagna in the freezer. But my husband hasn't done anything in the kitchen in over 10 years except load a dishwasher and take out the trash. Good luck.

Re: What could happen??
I didn't get much help either after the first 3 days. The davinci is very deceiving, I felt good and looked good on the outside, my insides were a hot mess and since I looked better everyone thought oh she's fine. I've dealt with the setbacks and am now five weeks out and feeling pretty good most of the time. My kiddos were the best helpers, they helped with laundry, dishes, sweeping and even helped with the yard work. They're 6&8. Don't push yourself, get the rest you need now.
