Its Over, Yippee!!

I went in Wed., Feb 7 for Lavh hysterectomy. I had several fibroids (to many to count they said) The biggest were about the size of a tennis ball and there were 4 of them according to my sonogram, but when they got in there they discovered that they had all grown into each other kind of making one huge one. So unfortunatly they ended up having to cut me. My doctor is so awesome. She said she made the incision as low as possible. Infact she did such a good job sewing it up I actually had to have dh look to see if he could find it. We both finally figured out where it was. He said it looked like a plastic surgeon had done it. I had to stay in the hospital for 2 days, yuck. I was so happy to get home. I have been sleeping a lot and trying to take it easy, but all in all I feel pretty good, mostly just sore and achy. The swelly belly feels really weird, I have always had a flat stomach, but this too will pass. I know that once I heal I am going to feel so much better. Doc said it will probbly help, if not cure my digestive problems (IBS), because I will have more room in there for everything to work. Wow what an added bonus that would be!
This site has been a godsend. I am taking pamplets to my doctors when I go for post op appt.
You ladies are wonderful, thank you so much for all of the useful information and support.

Yep I have been doing all of that. The nurses at the hospital couldnt beleive how much water I was drinking, but I usally drink 7 or 8 bottles of water a day, so for me it was no big deal. It is really really important to keep yourself hydrated. They tell me recovery will be quicker with just that simple step

It is still early but it seems my IBS is better - I hadn't heard the explanation your doctor gave you - makes sense.
